The German language is spoken by around 90 million people as their mother tongue. It is used by 80 million people as their second language, and many others learn it as a foreign language. It belongs to the group of three most learnt and the group of ten most spoken languages in the world. It is also said to be among the first five languages mostly used on the Internet.
